Mincy: Music producer, DJ and label owner

Eora-based music producer, DJ and owner of label Extra Spicy, Mincy is making waves in the underground bass scene. Not only here in Australia but globally. She seeks to break boundaries and challenge the status quo. She also happens to be a great friend of mine!

When my friend needed promo shots for her upcoming projects including an EP 'Rave Again' (a collab with AK Sports) I was happy to take on the role of makeup artist as well as photographer (fun fact - I worked as a professional photographer when I lived in Airlie Beach for a year!).

We spent some time brainstorming outfits and makeup looks that would work with the vibe of the track and complement each other. The shoot took place in a makeshift studio in Mincy's home in Dulwich Hill, and we had a blast experimenting with different looks and poses.

To create Mincy's looks for the shoot, I wanted to start by showcasing her natural beauty so we went with a no-makeup cool girl kind of vibe. For the second look, I opted for something unique that encapsulated the excitement and energy of her music. We went with a neon pop of green which really amplified the vibe and worked perfectly against the white adidas tank she chose to wear. For the final look, we applied a deep burgundy gloss to her eyes--it looked stunning and complemented the burgundy top!

Overall, the photoshoot was a huge success, and my friend was thrilled with the results. The images have since been used for her EP cover art, event flyers, and other promotional materials, including a feature on Triple J Mix-Up and I couldn't be prouder to have been a part of it.
